On Friday Apple released developers with Mac OS X 10.6.8 that will remove MAC Defender (Apple released a support document last week detailing the Mac Defender malware and promising a software update to remove it.) and offer a number of interesting enhancements.

The important update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac, including fixes that:

â— Resolve an issue that may cause Preview to unexpectedly quit
â— Improve support for IPv6
â— Improve VPN reliability
â— Identify and remove known variants of Mac Defender
