The source claims that the next generation iPhone will be able to run on both CDMA and GSM networks simultaneously, which means that Apple’s next iPhone will be compatible on both Verizon’s and AT&T’s network in the U.S., without the company having to manufacture two separate models for both the carriers, which it currently does.
This may be a far-fetched rumor, but the report suggests that Apple has been looking into the possibility to actually removing the physical SIM card from the next generation iPhone. So how would an iPhone function without a SIM card? turns out that an e-SIM could be incorporated inside the new iPhones, which would be stored on board the device.
Removing the SIM card would allow Apple more storage to cram more technology in the device. Nevertheless, for now it has been said that Apple has decided against the removal of SIM cards because many security concerns would need to be addressed first. Not much is known about the iPhone 4S or the iPhone 5. What we do know is that we’ll be bringing you any new updates on the next generation iPhone as soon as they come in. So keep checking back!
