When iOS 5 was revealed earlier this week at WWDC 2011, Apple publicly announced that iOS 5 will have deep Twitter integration. However, it turns out that iOS 5 has the integration ability with other services such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr and Myspace. This discovery has been made in iOS 5 beta 1 which was seeded to developers on June 6th.

If you open the address book in iOS 5 beta 1, there’s not just a field for Twitter in the contact information page. The page also allows you to add handles and links of your friends around the web and on Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr and Myspace along with the usual slew of contact details.

The URL that you added will then be automatically populated. Meaning that when you click on those accounts, Safari will open up and take you to their page on that particular web service. However, there is a strong possibility that Apple adds integration of all of these services in the final release of iOS 5, as currently in the beta version, these integrations are buggy, while these options only appear when you are adding a new contact and won’t appear if you edit an existing contact.

Whilst Twitter integration in iOS 5 has been welcomed, there is no doubt that integration of all these services will be appreciated as well. Let us see when Apple perfects them and releases the final version of iOS 5.
