After the Hewlett-Packard shocking announcement on Thursday to halt perations for WebOS devices declaring the death of its just-launched tablet, the HP TouchPad, retailers in the U.S. and Canada started to crop the price on the ill-fated iPad competitor to as low as $99.

This price-slashing resulted in moving units. The 16 GB and 32 GB models of the TouchPad currently on the top of Amazon’s best sellers list for electronics. Amazon.com is sold out for units. However, many of retail partners are offering the tablet ,yet at prices that are no match to the $99 lows of the weekend.

Amazon and Best Buy have adjusted their return policy for TouchPad owners who bought units at full price.

Pc World reports that HP is promising a second wave of TouchPad units in the next days for people who want to get a tablet at a cheap price.
