Yes, It has opened a replacement program for the first Generation iPod nano. This step from Apple means stop using these units (were sold between September 2005 and December 2006). The reason behind the stopping is that these iPod nano’s are causing serious overheating problems.

According to Apple, the overheating problem is not on a large scale if the battery of these iPods is newly built but as these iPod nano’s are already five years old the chance of overheating are very high.

Also, Apple is telling the first generation iPod nano’s users to stop using the product and get it replaced free of charge, if you are one of the these users you can access through Apple’s website. First you have to write the serial number of your iPod to move forward then after filling the complete replacement page then you have to wait for six weeks. After this, replacement unit for the first generation iPod nano will be sent to you.

Important Notes:

  • This program is only for the first generation iPod nano
  • After the waiting 6 weeks it will not replace the product of late informers. You can get additional information from any Apple retail store or an Apple authorized service provider.
