Not very long ago did Pod2g, the respected well-known member of the Dev Team, brought us some very exciting news about iOS 5.0.1 successful untether jailbreak on A4 devices as well as initiating the work on the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

Today, Pod2g is updating us on the status of the untether jailbreak on iPhone 4S in a blog post saying that until that moment iOS 5.0.1 untether jailbreak fails due to “processor cache issues” related to multicore cache management. However, he is optimistic about it eventually working, but feels that it is a “matter of chance”.

From pod2g’s blog:

Here are the news of the 4S week-end.
The untether fails right now because I’m having processor cache issues.
I’m close, but I can’t figure out what happens. It certainly has something to do with the multicore cache management.
I could sort it out quick, it’s a matter of chance.

Pod2G`s jailbreak is likely based on software-based exploit which means that he will probably get it working on the iPhone 4S and consequently the iPad 2 since both devices are running on A5 chips and Apple will probably patch the exploit with a new software release update (iOS 5.1)

Again, Pod2G is very enthusiastic and optimistic about the project, so we`re hoping he will get everything in place very soon.

Update:
Later yesterday, Pod2G updated his blog with wonderful news saying that he had solved the A5 chip cache issue bringing us closer to an untether jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

He also expressed gratitude to Saurik in solving one other lingering issues which was blocking the way for a stable untether jailbreak.

From pod2g:

I discussed with @saurik today about the launchd boot process, and he’s found one missing piece of the puzzle I needed to have a perfectly stable jailbreak. He’s definitely one of the best iOS gurus out there. Thank you saurik!

Great News. Can`t wait !!
