One of the main issues that has surfaced since the release of iOS 5 is the quick battery drainage issue. According to the majority of iOS 5 users, their battery lives are getting sucked dry even when their handsets are idle. Apple has been trying to find the source of the problem for some time now, but it doesn’t seem to be working. iOS 5 was followed by the release of 5.0.1 which was expected to bring a fix for the it. However, the issue still lingered.

A new Cydia tweak was developed promising an end to this sherade. iOS 5 Battery Fix came to fix this problem and by the looks of it, it has delivered on its promise.

The tweak is for VIP membership only on the Insanelyi repo priced at $4.99. According to Insanelyi forums, the tweak works well as reported by some users who said that no their battery drains twice as slowly with the tweak, while slight improvements are reported by others.

Could it be that this tweak kills the bug that`shas been causing this issue for a long time now? Why can’t the fruit company discover the bug?

Anyways, let`s rejoice in a solution for now. So, if you are having annoying battery problems and are willing to spare 5 dollars, it might be worth the shot.

Update: Two iOS hackers Dustin howett and Sam Binger proved this tweak a fake, just pointless lines of codes that solve nothing.

“There has been a lot of hype recently about a 4S “Battery Fix” – DHowett found that all it does is replace /System/Library/CoreServes/powerd.bundle/com.apple.SystemPowerProfileDefaults.plist

I looked for any possible impact of this.

While this sounds good… we’re changing the power settings right? The reality is that it does absolutely nothing.

Well, it`s disappointing for many who ventured with 5 dollars worth of a tweak in hope of ending a miserable situation. Like we speculated when we first mentioned the tweak if it`s doable, how come the fruit company haven found a solution yet.

Lesson learned, don’t buy tweaks off of shady repos. Thank God it didn’t hide a malicious virus this time, but it could have been.

A million thanks to our powerful jailbreak community.
