Today, Mozilla launches multiplayer browser adventure to showcase HTML5 gaming. With a new game called BrowserQuest, Mozilla is flexing its HTML5 muscles. The new game has designed for browser-based gaming.

BrowserQuest is a “tribute to classic video games with a multiplayer twist.”, but the most interesting are:
  • Underlying architecture, 
  • 2D tile graphics engine that powered by HTML5 Canvas, with browser-to-server communications handled by WebSockets.
  • Sound effects, meanwhile, are powered by HTML5 audio APIs
  • Each player’s progress is saved using localStorage.

Since BrowserQuest is written in HTML5/JavaScript, it is available across a lot of different browsers and platforms. The game can be played in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. With WebSockets enabled, it’s also playable in Opera. Moreover, it’s compatible with iOS devices, as well as tablets and phones running Firefox for Android
