Touch to unlock: It is believed Apple’s new iPhone could include a fingerprint sensor instead of requesting passwords. But this fingerprint sensor is also the reason why production of the iPhone 5S ‘set to be delayed beyond June.
The delaying has been claimed by many sources in Japan and Taiwan as they initially expected mass-production of the next iPhone to begin in June. According to Reuters the date may have begun to slip beyond June.
The supply chain source in Taiwan told that Apple was trying to find a coating material that did not interfere with the fingerprint sensor, and this may be causing a delay. The source added that Apple is also developing a cheaper model, which can appeal to lower-income buyers in growth markets such as China and India.
The supply chain source in Japan claimed that small-scale production of display panels will begin in May and mass production in June. Both of them will use the same 4-inch screen, but the cheaper version will probably not include the new fingerprint technology and sport a cheaper plastic casing.
