Background Manager allows true backgrounding on jailbroken devices once again

Ever since iOS 6, the once popular jailbreak application Backgrounder no longer functioned. Its usefulness had also been declining, ever since Apple introduced their pseudo-multitasking into iOS proper. Apple’s implementation freezes apps that aren’t active, only allowing certain tasks to be performed behind the scenes. Because of this, the developer of Backgrounder ultimately abandoned the project.
