In his 50-page complaint, the Vanderbilt law school grad holds that if the iPad-maker is in deed “concerned with the welfare of our Nation’s children, and furthering pro-American values†it should sell all of its devices in ‘safe mode,’ with software presets to filter out pornographic content…
The Huffington Post points to the filing:
“Per the complaint, Sevier’s problem began after he tried to visit “Facebook.com,†but — accidentally, he says — typed “F**kbook.com,†an adult site that “appealed to his biological sensibilities as a male and led to an unwanted addiction with adverse consequences.â€
In addition to damages, Sevier wants Apple to sell all its products with a filter that blocks pornography. If a buyer is over 18 and wants to unlock the device, he wants them to sign a contract with Apple acknowledging the ills of pornography before receiving a code to remove the filter.
“UNFAIR COMPETITION AND INTERFERENCE OF THE MARITAL CONTRACT: The Plaintiff became totally out of synch in his romantic relationship with his wife, which was a consequence of his use of his Apple product. The Plaintiff began desiring, younger more beautiful girls featured in porn videos than his wife, who was no longer 21.â€
I think from now on, whenever I mention how screwed up our legal system is, I’m going to point to this case as an example. Not only is the lawsuit itself ridiculous, but the fact it’s against Apple—the company that literally said “if you want porn, get an Androidâ€â€”makes it even more absurd.
