HMI Licensing group made a new press release on the HDMI 2.0 standard before the launch of Apple Mac Pros.
In the PR, they said that HDMI 2.0 comes with 18 Gbps and is going to support 32 audio channels and 4K videos at 60 per second frame rate. It also features additional CED extensions and auto dynamic lipsync feature. The good thing is that the connectors are the same as the previous HDMI version, so existing cables will handle the improved bandwidth pretty well.
According to an FAQ on HDMI 2.0, audio sample frequency is going to go up to 1536 kHz, while it can also deliver video streams to multiple users as well.
More features are expected to be discussed by HDMI Licensing group at the IFA 2013 event in Berlin, Germany, where Samsung unveiled its new devices.
Apple deployed HDMI in Macs after years of ignorance and has now made way on the list of HDMI adopters. The fruit company also planning on super-fast Thunderbolt as the I/O o Macs. Thunderbolt supports DisplayPort devices and HDMI on Macs was a normal move.
The new Mac Pro is going to be the first one to come with Thunderbolt 2. It comes with the same interface as Thunderbolt 1 and will be supportive of peripherals that exist.
Intel also revealed that Thunderbolt 2 can transfer 4K videos at the same time while they’re being shown on a monitor.
It is also expected that Apple is going to do something with the Retina based Thunderbolt Display around November, with the Mac Pro makes way with Thunderbolt 2.
