Facebook has updated its web page and the native Android app with a new feature that has been a long time coming – now the users would be able to edit a status that has been posted publicly. For now, the iOS app doesn’t have this feature, but will be coming pretty soon according to the social giant. The new feature works just like you can edit comments and has a history feature where friends and peers will be able to see the changes that you make. This is going to solve a lot of problems, especially for those who are used to getting comments on a status (but have to delete them because of an itsy bitsy mistake).

You can see how the feature is working on the web service.

TechCrunch says that users will be able to edit the statuses from the web, Android an iOS along with the same feature for the comments. You will just have to select the ‘Edit post’ button for the purpose.

Your revisions and original post will still be viewable if friends check your post’s edit history, though. For comments, hovering over or tapping a post will reveal a pencil icon on the right you can click to start editing.

Don’t have the official Facebook app for some weird reason or a resolution? It’s free to download.

As usual we will keep you updated with the latest news from Facebook, and we will inform you just when the new update comes to iOS… Stay tuned…
