And keeping that report in mind, Eric Schmidt’s answer at the Gartner Symposium may have attracted a giggle or more, when he suggested that the Android system was better than security than the iPhone.
Here’s the report from ZDNet:
“Gartner analyst David Willis, who is chief of research for mobility and communications and who runs Gartner’s Senior Research Board, said to Schmidt: “If you polled many people in this audience they would say Google Android is not their principal platform […] When you say Android, people say, wait a minute, Android is not secure.â€
Schmidt didn’t miss a beat, replying, “Not secure? It’s more secure than the iPhone.†The Google chairman danced around a straight answer explaining Android has more than a billion users, is a platform that will be around for a while, and therefore goes through rigorous real-world security testing.â€
The session’s recap was pointed out by Willis who says Schmidt’s comments attracted laughter, and symposium website further revealed that most of the crowd consisted of top notch IT professionals.
It’s a fact that iOS is one of the best secure platforms that is available for mobiles to this date. Phil Schiller also tweeted out a link in March pointing towards the ‘Mobile Threat Report’ indicating how insecure the Android platform was.
