the fifth-generation iPad designed for modern age users. The device
comes with a 9.7 inch display, and the side bezel clocks in at 43% –
super skinny.
With just 7.5mm, the new iPad Air is 20% thin compared to its
predecessor, and also 0.4 pounds lighter. In fact, it’s the lightest
iPad (or tablet) in the world. The device also comes with the new A7
64-bit chip, the same one that was featured on the iPhone 5s, and the M7
chip that was also included in the latest iPhone.
Graphics are now 72 times faster than iPad 1 and 3D rendering
performance has doubled. The CPU opens apps twice the speed and users
can also see fast responses when apps are updated to suit the 64-bit
computer.
Wi-Fi 802.11ac is featured, and it’s the first device
that ships with wireless MMIO tech. The iPad Air will also leverage LTE
support (extended) that was on iPhone 5s. The camera is 5 megapixel
iSight with 1080 video recording capability. The tablet also features
dual microphones, which will improve performance of Siri and call
reception.
The colors announced are Space Grey, White and
Silver. The price for iPad Air is $499 for 16 GB Wi-Fi model, and $529
for the Wi-Fi + Cellular mode. On a side note, iPad 2 16 GB Wi-Fi is on
sale at $399.
Apple will start shipping iPad Air from 1st
November, and it will arrive in countries like China. Apple has managed
to sell 170 million iPad units within 3 years, which shows just how much
people love this iDevice.
