Honda is poised to become the first auto car manufacturer with an iOS feature, as a representative of the company tweeted that the technology will be present in Civic 2014 model. Like Siri was accessed through the ‘Eyes Free’ feature, users would now be able to access applications like Maps, Music etc. through the touchscreen.

Here’s a Twitter exchange via 9to5mac:

So this might mean that the 7-inch multitouch display would allow users to control their iOS devices in Honda Civic 2014 that is expected to go on sale next month. Also, Siri Eyes Free would be rolled out for the current vehicles next month, so those with new models will get the functionality pretty soon.

The iOS in the Car is a big step forward from Apple. In fact, it was termed as the ‘key focus’ for the company by Tim Cook and is important to the App Store and iTunes ecosystem. Acura, Ferrari, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Volvo, Kia, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz and Opel are also going to support the new feature.
