Samsung managed to gain sponsorship at the Academy Wards help on March 2nd, Sunday, and as per the sponsorship, the host of the event Ellen DeGeneres was asked by the company to use and display a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 while the event was ongoing.

The money paid in sponsorship by the Korean smartphone giant seemed to work out fine, as Ellen took a photo with the Galaxy Note 3 and it turned out to be the most retweeted photo in the history of Twitter. About 2.7 million retweets were given to this ‘selfie’, which includes Ellen with several other Hollywood big guns such as Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt and more.

However, though she was using the Galaxy Note 3 during the telecast, images taken at the backstage depict that she held an iPhone rather than a Note 3 as pointed out in these few tweets.

This isn’t the first time a celebrity has been found using a device that is different from the one that is being endorsed. Oprah has also been caught about tweeting about Microsoft Surface through an iPad.

Looks like Samsung made good work out of the sponsorship, but clearly Ellen prefers her iPhone in normal routine.

What do you think about smartphone companies using celebs for endorsments?
