It happens with us so many times. There are several instances where you had an opportunity to take a great shot but just couldn’t get to the Camera app quick enough.

A new Cydia tweak called QuickCam aims to remove the shutter-stock syndrome making it possible to invoke a camera overlay on the top of a currently in use app via an Activator gesture.

After downloading and installing the tweak on your iPhone, you are going to notice there is no Settings menu. However, Activator preferences will now include a new configurable action. From here, you can assign QuickCam to any gesture, such as double-tap on the status bar.

Using this gesture will open QuickCam, which is essentially a shortcut to camera overlay. The attraction is that you can be anywhere on the iPhone’s screen (lock screen, home screen, within an app etc.) and still use the tweak.

The camera included in the tweak uses a flash toggle, along with a button for switching between rear and front cameras. You’ll find the tweak quite easy to use, with one handed operation required most of the times.

QuickCam is available for $1.99 in Cydia’s BigBoss repo. Let us know if you try it out.
