Earlier this month, there was no jailbreak available for iOS 7.1 and new firmware. Apple patched the exploits used in evasi0n7 in iOS 7.1, thereby ending the impressive 4-month run of the jailbreak tool.

But that doesn’t mean that iOS 7.1 is out of the picture. Winocm and some others proved that it is. And now, we’re bringing more evidence, as the famous hacker i0nic has tweeted a screenshot showing his iPhone 5c jailbroken and running iOS 7.1.1.

Here is the photo posted by the hacker to Twitter, and some other tweets that explain what he has done:

I just leave this here … pic.twitter.com/4UzalhUGjK

BTW it is Sunday

That iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak is not based on a long vulnerability chain. It uses a single beautiful kernel bug that goes from mobile to kernel.

If you’ve been following the jailbreak community for some time, you’ll be aware of what i0n1c has done so far for the community. He played a huge role in iOS 4.3 and other jailbreaks, and then he left the community. Later he hasn’t been that active apart from commenting about jailbreak happening and the evad3rs.

However, don’t get your hopes to high. It’s not likely that i0n1c will release an iOS 7.1 jailbreak, and as far as it is known, no one else is near jailbreaking it. That said, the fact that he hacked iOS 7.1 bodes quite well for the evad3rs team and others, who are working towards a public release, shows where his heart his.

We’ll keep you updated if anything happens.
