Have you ever wanted to turn your 15-inch retina MacBook into a powerful tablet ? Then in this case, it is better to checkout the new Pro X project from long-time MacBook-modifier Modbook. The company has taken to Kickstarter to market its latest creation—a 15.4″ quad-core tablet with Retina display that runs Mac OS X.
The Modbook Pro X will be available in a number of configurations, based on the new Retina MacBook Pros Apple unveiled just this week. Packages can include a processor as fast as Intel’s 2.8GHz Haswell chip, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 2 terabytes of flash storage…
Each ModBook Pro X features a flush-mounted ForceGlass screen with paper-emulating texture, and a crisp 15.4-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2880 x 1800. It’s built to be extremely accurate with a stylus with 2,048 pen pressure levels, and features like pen tilt and rotate.
Users will get the full OS X experience on the Pro X, which currently ships with Mavericks. It offers tons of connectivity options including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, two USB 3 ports, one SDXC slot, one HDMI port and two Thunderbolt 2 ports, and even supports external monitors.
As of right now, Modbook’s Kickstarter campaign has only garnered $10,000 of its $150,000 goal, but it’s just the first day. If you’d like to support the project without putting up money for a Modbook, you can chip in $59 for a Stylus, or $139 for a 750GB external hard drive.
