When Apple released iOS 8 to the public, they talked about Apple Pay feature that allows you to use your iPhone as your wallet to quickly pay anything you want. Tim Cook the CEO of Apple has just announced the the release date for Apple Pay. The company is set to launch the new mobile payment service on Monday, October 20th.

Additionally. Cook said that Apple has signed on 500 new banks since announcing Apple Pay last month, and a number of new retailers. It’s clear that the company believes the service is going to be huge.

Apple Pay will be enabled by iOS 8.1, which we’re expecting to be released soon.

Only time will tell, however, if Apple Pay will be a big hit with consumers. A large part of that hinges on whether or not Apple can roll out a major software update to activate the service without any hitches.
