According to a new report from iDigitalTimes, their “reputable†source informs them that an unknown team, not Pangu or evad3rs, has achieved significant progress towards an iOS 8/iOS 8.1 jailbreak:
The final possible player is actually a complete unknown — meaning I have no idea who it is, or if the person or group is familiar to the community. But according to a source that I cannot name but has reputability in the community, there is a party, which is at least partially on the way to an iOS 8 jailbreak. According to my source, “this party has kernel code execution … and publishing an iOS 8 jb.â€
On the other hand, we still don’t know if other popular iOS hackers have the intention to worn on iOS 8.x.x jailbreak.
@pod2g and @pimskeks evad3rs team said that jailbreaking the iPhone had simply become too boring for them:
“You have to have a passion for these things,†said @Pod2g. “For me at least, there must be some intrigue, some challenge. iOS is boring for me. I am getting sick of iPhones!â€
iH8sn0w, another popular hacker in the iOS jailbreak community said:
“I haven’t really been interested in public jailbreaks lately because of how much of a hassle it is to make them and publish them.â€
p0sixninja, who has been involved in several jailbreaks before, said:
“Things aren’t looking good for jailbreaks as far as I know … We’ve lost many good men, and their additions weren’t passed down to continue the cycle so… china or bust basically.â€
Pangu team, who released iOS 7 untethered jailbreak said that they have found some exploits in iOS 8 and they are working on iOS 8 jailbreak.
