Yesterday, Apple released iOS 8.1.1 to the public which comes with various number of features and bugs fixes. It is said that this new software version kills iOS 8 untethered jailbreak. However, we’ve got some good news for jailbreakers..

iH8sn0w, the well known hacker and the guy behind Sn0wbreeze the well known jailbreak tool and P0sixspwn has just published a video, which gives a demo of a jailbroken iPad running on iOS 8.1.1. The untethered jailbreak currently works only on devices with 30-pin, which means it will work only on the iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPhone 4s that come with the legacy 30-pin connector. Apple replaced the 30-pin connector with the Lightning connector in 2012 with the launch of iPhone 5. So the jailbreak won’t work on iOS devices such as the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad 4, iPad mini, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad Air, iPad Air 2 and iPod touch 5g.

He provides the following information about the untethered iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak:

Been working on this since last Friday with @XanderKitteh (really awesome dude). This uses some new research between the two of us (not bootrom related[aw ik], but not HFS either). Still only limited to working with 30pin devices due to no serial over lightning

Finally here’s the video:

What do you think ? Could we see some good news soon about iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak ?
