Google’s Chrome web browser for iOS was today updated to version 40.0.2214.61 that adds a number of new features, including an all new design based on Google’s Material Design language.

Material Design in Chrome brings “bold graphics, fluid motion and tactile surfaces,” as per release notes accompanying the 58-megabyte download.

In addition to Material Design, Chrome for iOS now supports Handoff, an iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite feature allowing you to start browsing on your iPhone or iPad and pick up right where you left on your Mac’s default browser.

Here’s the full change log:

• New look with Material Design bringing bold graphics, fluid motion and tactile surfaces
• iOS 8 optimisations and support for bigger phones
• Support handoff from Chrome to your default browser on OS X
• Stability improvements and bug fixes

Chrome now features native display support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices so both web sites and the user interface now take full advantage of the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone resolutions.

If the app hasn’t been automatically updated, you can download the update via the Updates tab in the App Store app.
