Cook revealed in the interview that the first reason for people to buy the Watch will be because its going to be a fashion statement. He praised Sir Jony Ive and said that he has done a “great job†with the design of the watch.
According to Cook, the Watch is designed to be able to “replace car keys and the clumsy, large fobs that are now used by many vehicles.â€
Matching up Apple’s previous battery claims (“users will have to charge it overnightâ€), Cook said the Watch’s battery life will last the whole day and it won’t take as long to charge as an iPhone.
Of message filtering, he reiterated the device will make it much easier to prioritize, spot and react to urgent messages, such as a family emergency.
Cook noted that while people might not find many reasons to buy an Apple Watch initially, they will eventually do, just like it happened with the iPhone.
“This will be just like the iPhone: people wanted it and bought for a particular reason, perhaps for browsing, but then found out that they loved it for all sorts of other reasons.â€
Now Cook cast more light on the device’s special rewards system designed to reward exercise. Folks will get credits if they exercise enough and will be encouraged to increase their metabolic targets if they meet their exercise targets consistently.
The Apple’s CEO also said that the Watch will allow users to filter the notifications displayed on it.
It will make it much easier to prioritise, spot and react to urgent messages, such as a family emergency. These notifications will be much easier to deal with via one’s wrist than through an iPhone, especially in meetings.
As for its battery life, Cook reiterated that the Watch will last a single day on a full charge. Most importantly though, he revealed that the watch will not take as long as the iPhone to charge thanks to its “incredible†charger, which has been designed by Jony Ive keeping efficiency as well as beauty in mind.
