A new YouTube video is published by EverythingApplePro on YouTube, the 8-minute video below puts iOS 9 — the public release that was rolled out on Wednesday — up against iOS 8.4.1 in a series of everyday tests to find out which is faster at starting up, browsing the web, launching apps, and more.
iOS 9 appears to follow the traditional pattern of iOS updates in that it works incredibly well on more recent hardware, but not so well on older devices. It’s slower to start up than iOS 8.4.1 on the iPhone 4s, for instance, but faster on iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 6.
Whether the upgrade is worth if for you, then, depends on what’s more important — loading apps, startup times, web browsing speeds, etc. However, even in the situations where iOS 9 is slower, it’s not significantly slower than its predecessor.
