The video proves the device is running on iOS 10 as iH8sn0w was able to delete the Mail app from the home screen. For good measure, and to prove his jailbreak is of the untether type, the hacker also reboots the device. Cydia is also showed on screen.
Before excitement levels go into overdrive, it’s worth noting a few things here. First of all, iOS 10 is only five days into its existence and isn’t actually due for a public release until later this year in September. There’s also the fact that iH8sn0w’s jailbreak is shown running on a 32-bit iPhone 5 device, not one of the latest 64-bit devices from Apple. We also have to face the potential reality that the jailbreak video is simply designed to show that it is possible to do, and that the developer may actually choose to keep it for his own research and usage purposes rather than issue it to the public.
