The employees of Austrailian Apple Store in Carindale have been accused of secretly taking, collecting and sharing of female walk-in customers and employees. A new report from Courier Mail, an Austrailian publisher, claims that 100+ close-up and explicit photos of female customer sand staffs have been found with a certain employee.
The Courier Mail calls it the biggest scandal for Apple in Austrailia. The Austrailian Apple Store employees reportedly collected some of the photos from phones of customers who turn them in for repair. All these collected photos would then be given a rank on a scale of 1 to 10 based on “their body.” The photos would also be shared in a group where members would comment on the body parts of the person in the shared photo.
Four of the concerned Apple Store employees have reportedly been fired over their involvement in the scandal. The fruit company has also reportedly sent an overseas HR executive to handle the matter. The company has issued a statement on the matter saying that it is actively investigating the matter and that the company does not tolerate anything against their values and business conduct policy.
“Apple believe in treating everyone equally and with respect, and we do not Âtolerate behavior that goes against our values,†the statement read. “We are investigating a Âviolation of Apple’s business conduct policy at our store in Carindale, where several employees have already been terminated as a result of our findings.â€
The report further adds that similar activities might be happening in Apple’s other retail outlets in Sydney and Queensland, but the company is yet to confirm the same. Given how serious the customer’s privacy matter is, it is highly likely that Apple is also investigating its other store to find other Apple employees involved in any such activities.
