The latest rumor related to the 2017 revision of the iPhone hints that Apple will be launching a 5-inch iPhone variant with a dual-camera lens setup similar to the one Apple introduced with the iPhone 7 Plus. While the current iPhone 7 Plus has a horizontally arranged dual-camera setup, the smaller variant will have it horizontally arranged in order to maximize internal space for rest of the components.
The report comes from Mac Otakara. The source claims that the 5-inch iPhone specs have not yet been finalized, however, these will be similar to the “iPhone 7s” and the “iPhone 7s Plus.” The specs will be finalized by Apple and its suppliers during the second quarter, most probably by the end of March 2017. It remains unclear whether the larger iPhone variant will also get a horizontal dual-camera arrangement next year or not.
According to rumored so far, Apple is expected to launch three different variants of the iPhone in 2017, including a premium Plus model. These next-generation iPhone devices will be powered by Apple A11 chipset manufactured by TSMCusing its 10nm fabrication process. The devices are rumored to feature an all-glass design with a metallic chassis, waterproofing, and dust resistant rating.
Apple reportedly also plans on using OLED displays on all the upcoming variants, but supply constraints might result in keeping it exclusive to the premium Plus model. The devices are also expected to see an increase in display dimensions while keeping the same old physical dimensions. Last, but not the least, introduction of the wireless charging feature with 2017 iPhone models is also among the hot rumors.
