Last year, Bloomberg had reported about a brand new 10.5-inch iPad with faster display rate that is being worked on by Apple. Steve Troughton-Smith, an app developer, now supports the same 10.5-inch iPad with faster display rates citing a piece of code he found in the iOS 10.3 beta version.
While his provided evidence does not reveal any specific display size, however, it does provide some evidence of a future iPad able to render frame rates faster than 60fps. The code he found while digging deep into iOS 10.3 beta represents the base platform that would allow developers to run apps at variable frame rates. The 10.3 beta code does not explicitly provides proof for devices ith greater than 60 FPS.
ApplePencil that the company launched alongside its iPad Pro lineup accepts input at 240 Herts, even though the iPad Pro screen does not update that fast. Considering the Apple Pencil input, it seems highly likely that Apple would eventually update its display with increased refresh rates that will result in more responsive drawing and minimize lag.
I remain reasonably convinced that an iOS device screen refresh rate higher than 60Hz is possible this year pic.twitter.com/k9W4q8rxcm

A new 10.5-inch iPad display was first reported back in Summer by the well-connected KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. His report was later supported by Bloomberg and then numerous other reports hinted at the same idea.
The recent KGI report had claimed a significant decrease in iPad’s price which turned out to be a reality in the form of new 9.7-inch iPad that Apple announced yesterday. A third iPad – a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro – is also said to be in the works, which also could benefit from a higher refresh rate.
