Yesterday Samsung unveiled two new smartphones – the S8 and the S8+. And Samsung has pushed a lot of boundaries when it comes to the hardware. But how exactly does the new Samsung S8 and S8+ hardware compare to the latest iPhones? We’ve got the numbers for you.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs iPhone 7: Specs Comparison

1. Display

The Galaxy S8 has a 5.8 inch 2960×1440 Infinity display (AMOLED). The S8+ has a 6.2 inch 2960×1440 Infinity Display.

The iPhone 7 has a 4.7 inch 750×1334 Retina Display while the iPhone 7 Plus has a 5.5 inch 1080×1920 Retina Display.

2. Size

The Galaxy S8 weighs in at 155 grams while the S8+ is 173 grams. The S8 is heavier than the iPhone 7, but the S8+ is lighter compared to iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 7 weighs 138 grams while the iPhone 7 Plus weighs 188 grams.
The iPhone 7 is 7.1 mm thick. The 7 Plus is 7.3 mm. The S8 is quite thicker, at 8 mm. The S8+ is slightly thicker at 8.1 mm.

Dimensions wise, the S8 is 148.8 mm tall and 68.1 mm wide. The S8+ is 159.5mm tall and 73.4 mm wide.

As you can see, dimensions wise S8+ is almost the same as the iPhone 7 Plus (although way taller), yet it manages to fit a 6.2-inch screen inside the body. The S8 though, is quite a bit larger than the iPhone 7.

3. Battery

The Galaxy S8 comes with a 3000 mAh battery, while the S8+ gets a 3500 mAh battery. The iPhone 7 has a 1960 mAh battery while the iPhone 7 Plus battery is rated at 2900 mAh.

4. Processor

Both the Galaxy S8 and S8+ come with two different versions for different market. They’ll either be running Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Samsung Exynos 8895 chips, depending on the territory.
Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus run on Apple’s A10 chip.

5. Security

Both S8 and S8+ come with a fingerprint scanner (located at the back of the phone, next to the camera) and an Iris scanner. The iPhone 7 has a Touch ID fingerprint scanner integrated in the Home button but doesn’t have Iris scanning capabilities.

6. Camera

Both the S8 and S8+ have a 12 MP Dual Pixel, f/1.7 1.4 micron pixels camera (with optical image stabilization). The iPhone 7 has a single 12 MP camera with OIS, while the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual camera setup with OIS.

On the front, the S8 and S8+ have an 8 MP, f/1.7 camera with auto focus. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have a 7 MP f/2.2 front shooter.

7. Charging

Both Galaxy S8 and S8+ come equipped with Qi wireless and Fast charging. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus support neither of those features.

8.Water Resistance

Both the S8 and S8+ are rated at IP68 water resistance. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus get lower IP67 rating instead.

9.Memory

Both the Galaxy S8 come with 64 GB of storage, along with a microSD slot that expands the storage upto 256 GB. The iPhone starts at 32 GB storage, can go all the way up to 256 GB but it doesn’t come with an expandable SD card slot.

10. RAM

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ come with 4 GB RAM. The iPhone 7 has 2 GB RAM while iPhone 7 Plus gets 3 GB.
