Apple has made its iWork suite, GarangeBand, and iMovie apps free for all of its users. Since 2013, only those who bought a new iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or a Mac were eligible to download these apps at no additional cost. But now, any user, without new hardware purchase restriction, can download and install all these apps for free on any of their compatible Apple devices.
Apple also offers a web variant of all the iWork apps including Pages, Numbers, and Keynote for iCloud. These cloud-based apps have always been free. These apps can be used for collaborative editing of any documents on a mac or a PC web browser.
The web apps have always been free and you can use them for collaborative editing of all your documents on a Mac or PC web browser, just like Google Docs and Microsoft’s Office 360. Before this price change only qualified iOS 10 compatible devices owners with initial activation on or after September 1, 2013, were qualified to get these apps for free. Similarly, those who bought a new Mac on or after October 1, 2013, were eligible for the free download of these apps.
If you’ve not yet tested any of these apps, I highly recommend giving them a shot. Some of these apps by Apple are incredibly powerful such as iMovie. The iMovie app allows you to edit 4K video projects like a pro on your iPhone 6s or newer models. The iWork suite is also pretty good for documentations, record keeping, and presentations.
