Powermat is a big name when it comes to wireless charging technologies, in fact, the company has played a vital role in the development of this tech. Now the CRO of the Powermat, Elad Dubzinski, talking about the appointment of company’s new chairman of the board mentioned that the wireless charging will be a standard feature on the upcoming iPhone.
Dubzinski’s statement was not directly targeted towards iPhone and was more about how quickly the wireless charging adoption is going to increase in the near future:
With the recent announcement by Apple that wireless charging will become a standard feature in the next iPhone, we are finally at the threshold of mainstream adoption.
It is highly unlikely that Apple made Dubzinski aware of its plans beforehand. However, it is highly likely that he made this statement based on the report, rumors, and analysts predictions. Apple is widely expected to include wireless charging feature in all three rumored 2017 iPhone models; Â two iterative models and a 10th anniversary iPhone 8. However, it’s unlikely that Apple will bundle the wireless charger with the device though, and the user will have to buy it as a separate accessory.
Earlier this year, Apple joined the Qi Charging Consortium which further fueled the rumors regarding the inclusion of wireless charging in the upcoming iPhone models. It is worth mentioning that Apple is already using Qi wireless charging tech in its Apple Watch but the company has modified the standard up to a level that made all existing Qi chargers incompatible with the Watch. It is highly likely that Apple will do the same with wireless charging features on the newer iPhone models.
