Apple Touts 2 Million Jobs Created in the United States

Apple has announced that it has created a total of 2 million jobs across 50 states of the U.S. so far. The company gave out the information through its official website which has a dedicated job creation page setup for this very purpose.

The numbers tell the story. Apple is one of the biggest job creators in the United States, responsible for two million jobs in all 50 states. Last year, we spent over $50 billion with more than 9,000 U.S. suppliers and manufacturers. Since we launched the App Store in 2008, U.S. developers have earned over $16 billion in App Store sales worldwide. And we’re just getting started.

Apple breaks down the number of jobs created like this:
● 80,000 Apple employees
● 450,000 Jobs through our U.S.-based suppliers
● 1,530,000 U.S. jobs attributable to the App Store ecosystem

With the iPhone 8 expected to break cover this year, we can expect more jobs to be created in 2017, mostly through contract manufacturers. Apple updates these figures annually on its official site, so we will have to wait a year to see how 2017 fared in terms of job creation.

The Trump administration has piled the pressure on Apple to produce more iPhones in the U.S. While the company is still some distance away from localizing iPhone production, these figures give us a good idea about the jobs that have been created in the country.
