Apple is widely likely going to launch a 10th anniversary iPhone dubbed as either ‘iPhone 8’ or ‘iPhone Edition’ later this year which is expected to be a huge hit. However, to enjoy this latest piece of technology from Apple, the fans are also expected to pay a premium price.

Some of the previous rumors and reports suggested that the ‘iPhone 8’ is going to cost you more than $1000. Now Simona Jankowski, an analyst at Goldman Sachs has weighed in with his own prediction on the iPhone 8 pricing.

According to Jankowski, the highly-anticipated iPhone 8 with premium specs will be offered in 128GB and 256GB storage options. She believed that the 128GB variant will cost $999 while the 256GB model will be priced at $1,099. Compared to the current price point of iPhone 7, it’s a pretty premium price that Apple is going to charge if the analyst turns out to be right. But, given some of the rumored features, iPhone 8 will be quite the smartphone to own. Unlike current iPhone lineup, the analyst does not expect the iPhone 8 to come in a 32GB storage option.

Relative to the 128GB iPhone 7 Plus, we estimate the new features and higher commodity prices to increase the bill of materials by over $70, which we expect Apple to offset via a $130 price increase, resulting in a starting price of $999 for the 128GB capacity and $1,099 for the 256GB capacity (we don’t expect the iPhone 8 to come in 32GB)

Even the most expense of the current iPhone lineup, which is the iPhone 7 Plus with 256GB storage capacity, cannot match the premium price expected for the iPhone 8 base model. The iPhone 7 Plus with 128GB capacity retails for $969 in the United States.

Steven Milunovich, an analyst at UBS, expects a lower price tag for the iPhone 8. Last month, the analyst shared his numbers for the iPhone 8. He expects the 64GB iPhone 8 to be priced between $850-$900 and for the 128GB iPhone 8, the analyst predicts a price range between $950-$1,000. While the number does not match up from both of the analysts, there is a consensus over a premium price tag for this upcoming smartphone.

This is is going to mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone lineup. Apple has launched its massively successful smartphone back in 2007 which brought the touch screen revolution to the industry. This year, all eyes are on Apple to see what they have up their sleeves for the 2017 iPhone lineup.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 8 later this year, probably September, alongside a potential lower-end iPhone that will not carry the same features or look as the more expensive option. With the iPhone’s tenth anniversary to be celebrated this year, all eyes are on Apple to see what the 2017 iPhone lineup will look like.
