Two new sets of images have appeared in Chinese social media today claiming to depict the design of upcoming iPhone 8 which is expected to be launched later this year. Both sets of images show an edge-to-edge display, vertical dual camera setup as seen in previous schematics and dummy units related leaks. These latest set of images show how the so-called iPhone 8 could look like in different colors.
The first image appears to show that the Touch ID on the iPhone 8 will be located on the back side of the iPhone right below the Apple logo. Reports have been contracting each other on whether or not Apple would be able to achieve mass production of Touch ID sensor integrated beneath the display. Various schematics leaks and analysts have also predicted that Apple might move the fingerprint sensor on the back of the iPhone 8 due to difficulties with Touch ID integration beneath the display.
These new sets of images could be an inaccurate representation of what Apple actually launches later this year in the for of iPhone 8, especially the placement of Touch ID could be on the front side beneath the display. Another noticeable thing in these images is the lack of glass on the rear side of the device which is contradicting what majority of analysts have been predicting about the iPhone 8. Many analysts expect iPhone 8 to have a rear made out of the glass to support the wireless charging.
These images appear to show the black variant with jet black glossy finish while the white iPhone 8 includes silver and gold rear case as seen on the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 7.
iPhone 8 is also rumored to feature facial recognition technology within the front-facing camera, which, these images does not appear to offer. There is no expanded camera shown in these images, although these images could belong to an early variant in the product design cycle.
Another image that appeared through mobilexpose.com appears to be a fan-made render based on rumored specs and features of the iPhone 8 but in four different colors including black, silver, white, and gold. The Rose Gold variant is missing from the renders and the iPhone units are arranges in the same fashion as the recent iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus promotional material. There is no fingerprint sensor shown on the rear side of the devices in this render.
