A set of new images has surfaced earlier today claiming to reveal the upcoming iPhone 8 with an integrated Touch ID on the back side of the device. This new set of images has appeared on a Chinese site iPhoneros and provide the clearest look at Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8 or seemingly a design that has been at least prototyped by Apple.
Rumors, reports, and analysts have been contracting each other over one aspect of the iPhone 8 i.e. where the company is going to place theTouch ID on its 10th-anniversary edition of iPhone. Some of the reports and rumors over the past few months claimed that Apple will integrate the Touch ID on the front side beneath the display without having a physical presence. While the other reports suggested that the company is going to place the Touch ID on the rear side of the iPhone 8 due to manufacturing difficulties in embedding it beneath the display.
This latest batch of leaked photos of an alleged iPhone8 prototype matches earlier leaked CAD drawings and show the Touch ID sensor on the back side of the device, right below the Apple logo. The images also show vertical dual camera setup, flashlight placement, and other features as they were shown in the leaked CAD drawings.
Some earlier reports also suggested that such as design could actually mean that the company is going to integrate wireless charging connection, but these images seem to make it pretty clear that it is meant for the Touch ID, not the wireless charging.
Adding to these leaked images, Benjamin Geskin – a leaker at Twitter, has shared a separate image showing the front side of the device completely covered with the display. While some concepts and leaks suggested screen wrapping around the speaker and front camera, this image still shows small bezel housing at the top housing cutouts for speakers and the camera.
Talking about the legitimacy of these photos, iPhoneros claims that these images come straight from a Chinese source who has a great track record and “never sent us false information.†While we cannot be sure of the authenticity of these leaks, we can assume that it’s a design that Apple has tested fro the iPhone 8. It may or may not become the final design for iPhone 8 that will ship to the public later this year.
As we are getting closer to the official unveiling of iPhone 8, the related leaks and rumors have also picked up the pace with one major contradiction i.e. the placement of Touch ID.
