It’s been only two days since the leak of iOS 11 GM happened and we know pretty much everything Apple is going to introduce on September 12. The developers continue to dig deep into the firmware code to find more hints related to the features of iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus.
The initial findings revealed that iPhone X is not going to feature Touch ID. Many started wondering how Apple is going to handle Apple Pay transactions on 10th anniversary iPhone. Now Jeffrey Grossman discovers that double clicking the sleep/power/side button will approve the transaction after the user first authenticates a payment with Face ID. Apple may also bring the Face ID to its future iPad lineup, hints the code.

The code has also revealed details related to the A11 chipset for 2017 iPhone lineup. The processor of the A11 chipset is going to feature 6-cores, with four low-power ‘Mistral’ cores and two high power ‘Monsoon’ cores. All of these six cores will be capable of operating independently. The A11 chipset is not going to be a Fusion chip as seen on last year’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

When it comes to RAM, developer Steve Troughton Smith has found out that the iPhone 8 will get 2GB RAM module, while the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X will feature 3GB of RAM. The 3GB RAM in larger siblings is due to the heavy processing requirements of dual camera setup and higher resolution display. The smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 8 will not get both of these features.
Just to clarify on the A11: it’s two high-power Monsoon cores and four low-power Mistral cores, all independently addressable. No Fusion

The developers have also come across a piece of code in iOS 11 GM hinting at the wireless charging option. However, the code fails to provide many details about its working. Apple is expected to introduce Qi wireless charging standard in its 2017 iPhone lineup, however, it remains a mystery whether these devices will be compatible with third-party Qi chargers or not.

Last, but not the least, the iPhone X will continue to rock 12MP dual camera setup on the rear and a 7MP shooter on the front. The main camera will be capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps and 1080p at 240fps. This means we won’t be seeing a front-camera capable of capturing the 4K videos this year.
With the leaked of iOS 11 GM, we have come to a point where all we are left to know is the price of the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus. The leaked firmware has also revealed that the new iPhone will get new features such as Animoji, Portrait Lightning, and more.
