The availability of this first beta for a future iOS update suggests that Apple may drop the final version of iOS 11.1 to the masses anytime now. Pair it with the upcoming launch of iPhone X later this week, the release of iOS 11.1 in coming days is nothing but confirmed.

If you’re a registered iOS developer, you can download full-sized IPSW file for iSO 11.2 beta 1 from Apple’s dedicated developer portal. If you have properly configured the beta profile on your test devices, the pre-release iOS updates will be available through over-the-air feature as well. The OTA update can be found under Settings > General > Software Update.

How to download and install iOS 11.2 beta (both developer and public betas)

The first beta of iOS 11.2 weighs at around 2GB (varies from device to device) and carries a build number 15C5092b. The official release notes do not talk much about what’s new, but initial finding reveals that the iOS 11.2 comes with bug fixes, tweaks, and other improvements.

iOS 11.2 fixes input lag in the Calculator app. This lag results in missed calculations. Apple has tweaked several emoji characters. The wallpapers Apple used to market iPhone 8 and iPhone X are now available on older devices as well. Now Playing card in Control Center when playing contents to Apple TV has also seen slight tweak and the flickering Apple boot logo has also been fixed.

With iOS 11.2 Apple also introduces SiriKit for HomePod. The SiriKit for HomePod will allow HomePod users to access apps on iPhone and iPad that support SiriKit for Notes, Lists, and Messages. The much-awaited Apple Pay Cash and Messages in iCloud features are still missing from the first beta of iOS 11.2 but could appear in succeeding beta versions.
