According to a new report from The Korea Herald newspaper, Samsung is planning to join the triple camera trend in order to keep up with Apple and other rivals.
It’s unclear from the conflicting reports floating out there if a triple-lens iPhone may release this year or next. For what it’s worth, analysts and supply chain reports point to triple-lens iPhone being released in the fall of next year.
According to analyst and industry watchers, a three-lens camera system may bring 3x optical zoom, better long-exposure shots and nighttime photography, plus advanced 3D sensing via stereoscopic vision, a first for an iPhone.
“Samsung, which has a lower-than-expected demand for its latest Galaxy S9 lineup, will consider to equip its next premium phone with the triple cameras and a 3-D sensor to reinvigorate its smartphone business,†Kim Dong-won, an analyst from KB Securities, noted in a report, mentioning the next-generation iPhone that is rumored to have three cameras to appeal to customers.
The next generation camera is thought to have a 6P lens design, take 12MP photos, and feature 5X (presumably optical) zoom.
