SOS Feature in iPhone and Apple Watch Leading to Thousands of Abandoned Calls to Emergency Services

With iOS 11, Apple added an Emergency SOS feature to iPhones which could be activated by long-pressing the side button and volume button. With the Apple Watch Series 4, a call to the emergency services is automatically made if the wearable detects a fall. While the ability to quickly call emergency services is a useful addition, the feature has led to an increase in the number of unintentional calls to them.
