Apigy has made the Lockitron keyless entry technology a lot better, and you can unlock your door from anywhere in the world.

The device costs $149 and can be installed on an existing deadbolt lever and it works best if you have a Bluetooth 4 or NFC equipped smartphone.

It will automatically sense your device and the door will be unlocked.

It even works without you being there and for that it has a smartphone app. You can even give your friends access to the door by entering in their email address and phone number.

They will then be able to open your door with their smartphones.

Lockitron does a lot more as well, it lets you know if someone has knocked on your door, and it can even notify you if you door has been unlocked.

If you are using a cellphone even then you can work it, you can send an SMS and that will unlock the door.

The SMS are predefined set of commands and that gives you a lot of ways for opening your door.

The units’ batteries have a life of a year depending on usage and if they run out you can always use the key to unlock it.

The first version of lockitron was a bit buggy since at times it didn’t work at all.

There is one improvements and that’s in the fact that previously it used to cost $295 whereas now its for just $149. You can preorder it as well and the thing is Lockitron’s creators used a kickstarter like process to fund this new version. They raised around $715,500 from 4,770 eager people and it has just 29 more days to go. Apigy will be sending off the first batch around March, 2013.

There are a lot of people who are inserted in keyless entry with a smart phone and it does sound good.

However I do have my security concerns as hacking a software is much easier than picking a lock, you can say it’s more discreet. But I’m sure they must have taken care of that.

So then, are you willing to spend $149 for this or are you happy with keys?
