Most people who are affectionate for Siri are in for some news. A middle-age woman from Atlanta says that she is the original voice of Siri.
A mom from Sandy Springs, Georgia named Susan Bennett didn’t want any attention. She has given voice to a lot of digital machinery, ranging from ATM machines to voice announcing directions at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Now she reveals that she was also the voice behind Siri.
She told CNN:
“It seemed like everyone was clamoring to find out who the real voice behind Siri is, so I thought, well, you know, what the heck? This is the time,â€.
The cable network talked to her, and she recounted her journey. But Apple didn’t comment on the claim. However, voice analysts and lawyers who were interviews are sure she is the one.
Bennett says in 2005, she recorded many voices for GM Voices in Atlanta, and the company was later taken over by ScanSoft. ScanSoft later changed its name to Nuance.
Almost 10 years have passed since Bennett reveals that she made the voice of Siri
“I wasn’t sure that I wanted that notoriety, and I also wasn’t sure where I stood legally. And so, consequently, I was very conservative about it for a long time,†she said.
Bennett had to come out after The Verge said Allison Dufty was the voice behind Siri, regardless of the fact that she posted she had nothing to do with the virtual voice assistant. Her lawyer Steve Sidman had month-long negotiations about using her as the voice of Siri. GM Voices CEO Marcus Graham also said she was the voice of Siri. An audio expert also told they are a 100% match.
