This is the first report about a curved iPhone from a major media outlet, and the source even mentions a release date: second half of 2014.
Here is the excerpt from Bloomberg:
Two models planned for release in the second half of next year will feature larger displays with glass that curves downward at the edges, said the person, declining to be identified as the details aren’t public.
The new iPhones will be Apple’s largest at screens of 4.7 and 5.5 inches, the person said, approaching in size the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3 that Samsung Electronics Co. debuted in September.
As you can see, that the information makes a picture that is quite different from Samsung’s Galaxy Round, so it can be somewhat like the Nokia Lumia 1320,, that has a downward curved edges and a flat display.
Bloomberg also says that Apple is working on sensors that can differentiate between heavy and light touches, but also mentions that the technology may arrive in following models:
Testing continues on the pressure-sensitive technology, which is unlikely to be ready for the next iPhone release and is instead planned for a later model, the person said.
Another media outlet, New York Times, also mentioned back in 2011 that Apple is experimenting with curved designs and there would be an iPod that curves around the wrist. Bloomberg also mentioned a curved-screen iOS device back in February.
What do you think? Curved iPhone on the way next year?
