Has your Users folder disappeared after upgrading to OS X 10.9.3? Here’s how to get it back

Apple yesterday released OS X Mavericks 10.9.3, an update to Mac OS X with improved 4K display support, iOS contacts and calendar sync and more. After updating, some Mac owners are reporting that their /Users folder has disappeared from the root directory of their file system in Finder.
