Back in June, it was confirmed that Apple Pay would be supported by every major bank in the United Kingdom when it became available — except Barclays.

In July, Barclays would confirm that while it wouldn’t be in the launch window in the region, the banking juggernaut still planned on supporting Apple’s mobile payments option at some point in the future. Since then, Barclays plans have been kept quiet. That is finally changing, though.

Barclays CEO of Personal and Corporate Banking Ashok Vaswani emailed a Barclays customer named Mike Jobson, informing him that the bank has plans to rollout Apple Pay support in the beginning of 2016:

“We have signed up for ApplePay and will launch it very early in the New Year. We truly value your custom and hope that you continue to bank with us particularly since we are launching this shortly.”
