Apple was long rumored to open its first flagship store in South Korea, the home turf of its biggest competitor (Samsung) in the smartphone industry. The company has confirmed its planned by posting 15 job listings on its website.

While the job openings confirm that the company is opening a retail store in Seoul, South Korea, but does not provide any other information as to when they plan to open it and the exact location of the planned store. A per a previous rumor, Apple was considering opening its retails stores in Seoul right across the street from Samsung’s headquarter.

We’re excited about opening our first Apple Store in Korea, one of the world’s economic centers and a leader in telecommunication and technology, with a vibrant K-culture.

We’re now hiring the team that will offer our customers in Seoul the service, education and entertainment that is loved by Apple customers around the world.

Yonhap, a South Korean News Agency, reports that Apple’s first retail store in South Korea is reportedly under construction at a location in the southern district of Seoul and the construction work is likely to be completed by November this year.

South Korea is the home turf of Samsung, Apple’s arch-rival, and a supplier of multiple iPhone components. While the South Korean electronics giant has always dominated its local market, but Apple has managed to invade into its market over the last few years.
