iOS 11.2 beta 2 download is exclusively available for iPhone X. Apple has released the second beta of the upcoming iOS 11.2 for iPhone X which was launched on November 3. This is somewhat an unexpected beta release for exclusive to one device given that we just received the first beta a few days ago.
If we have to guess why Apple did so, the release of iOS 11.2 beta 2 for iPhone X is likely due to the issue that developers and testers experienced when they tried to restore their iOS 11.2 beta 1 backup on an iPhone X iOS 11.1 as there was not beta 1 available for iPhone X.
And yes, the second beta of iOS 11.2 is only available to iPhone X users. However, we expect that to change soon. The release is available to developers community and we can expect that the same release will be available to the public beta testers as well. We will let you know as soon as Apple releases the same build for other devices and public beta testers as well.
As far as new features in iOS 11.2 is concerned, the firmware fixes a calculator related bug that resulted in miscalculation due to lags. Apple has also added SiriKit for HomePod support in iOS 11.2. It means a limited app support from third-party app developers will be available for the HomePod. The update also includes minor bug fixes, performance and battery related improvements, and interface tweaks.
About the iOS 11.2 beta 2, there is not much known other than that it is only available for the iPhone X. If you have grabbed an iPhone X and want to try iOS 11.2 beta 2, you need to properly configure a beta profile on it. We have a detailed guide on how to install an iOS beta on iPhone or iPad. After you have configured the beta profile, head over to Settings > General > Software Update. The beta 2 update should appear there. Alternatively, you can download a full-sized IPSW file from developer.apple.com and install it using iTunes.
