FaceTime is video calling software introduced by Apple in 2010. However it came bearing issues for it worked only on Wi-Fi and between two iPhone 4`s. FaceTime technology was then brought to the iPad 2, iPod Touch 4G and OS X.

A jailbreak tweak called “FaceBreak” came with a solution for the Wi-Fi limitation issue, bringing FaceTime over 3G. Before FaceBreak was introduced, users had to go through some complicated steps to enable the service, but now a it can be easily done with a swipe of the finger.

From Cydia:

Enable FaceTime over 3G ! With 1 click and no setup, you can get FaceTime running over 3G and use it anywhere you want. No more looking up for nearby WiFi connection to use FaceTime. – Just install and Respring. FaceTime will now also work when on 3G.

This tweak has been updated to support jailbroken iOS devices on iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1. Of course, you`ll need a jailbroken iOS 5 to enable FaceBreak over 3G.Jailbreak your iPhone using RedSnow. Here`s a full guide.

It goes without saying that the performance over 3G will be slow and poor in comparison to the more stable, fast Wi-Fi connection.

FaceBreak is a $1.99 tweak which can be installed from Cydia under BigBoss repo.
