If you’re one of the unlucky ones that have experienced the stuck MacBook keys, it seems like Apple may not have fixed the issue with their latest MacBooks. The 2018 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air have both been added to the keyboard repair program list.
Apple was reported to add an additional silicone layer between the key mechanism and the keyplates themselves in order to prevent dust. Dust has reportedly been the biggest cause for stuck MacBook keys with the controversial butterfly switches. This, however, does not seem to have solved the issue as some of Apple’s latest devices are being added to the repair and replacement program.
This must be disappointing news to anyone who bought any of the 2018 MacBook models as the keyboard issue has been known for almost three years at this point, starting with the introduction of butterfly switched with the MacBook 2016 (yes, just “Macbook”. That happened.).
If you’re on one of the many unlucky ones to be hit with this defect, make sure to book an appointment with your local Apple Genius Bar.
